2016-2017 June Newsletter
1st June, 2016
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
Have you ever heard someone say, ‘As long as there is a dream, everything can come true’? At the CCC Joint School Graduation Ceremony, two of the guests coincidently talked about “dreams” and they pointed out that those who have dreams will continue to strive for their goals. Recently, a female secondary teacher made a commitment that she would reach the peak of Mount Everest so as to encourage her students to pursue their dreams. She tried over seven years, failed twice and finally reached the summit. She has become the first woman in Hong Kong to conquer Mount Everest. Dreams should come with action. If a person has a dream, he or she will be motivated to take action and achieve success. A dream can help us find the direction of our life and may determine our future. Then how should we construct our dreams? This reminds me of a movie called “La La Land”, which has generated a heated discussion in the community. In the movie, one of the main characters had a dream of running a Jazz restaurant while another character had a dream of being an actress. Both of them knew how to explore and develop their interests and they tried their best to pursue their dreams. After we find our interests, we should turn them into motivation and strive for success. Apart from developing our interests, we should try to participate in different activities to broaden our horizons and learn from those experiences. The experiences will become the nutrients of our life and help us construct our dreams. We can also broaden our horizons by reading more books, such as biographies of successful people and motivational books.
The 22nd Teacher Commendation Scheme has concluded. Miss Tse Ka Ying, Karen and Miss Pang Lai Man have received the highest number of votes and I would like to congratulate them for being voted as Outstanding Teachers. In addition, the results of the Outstanding Students Awards are as follows: Wu Ya Chi, Grace from 1 Love, Fung Ping Kei from 2 Faith, Wong Tsz Tung from 3 Wisdom, Mok Yan from 4 Faith, Huang Sin Yee from 5 Love and Yip Wan Ying, Anais from 6 Hope. We congratulate the elected students and would also like to thank the fellow students for their active participation. I believe that the students have had good experiences during the election and I hope they can continue to work hard and make further progress.
As the examinations are coming in June, I believe many parents are busy helping their children with revision. Will you be anxious and say something that makes your child stressed? Have you paid attention to your child’s growth and performance? It is important for parents to provide some challenging tasks that are suitable for their children and adjust the guidance given according to their abilities. We should also be caring and encourage children with actions to help them build their confidence and enhance their abilities. Replacing negative comments with praise and encouragement allows our children to feel loved and cared for and establish positive thinking.
The construction of the SMART Classroom is almost finished. Thank you very much for all of your support. The SMART Classroom adopts a flexible design and teachers will bring students there to participate in different learning activities according to their lesson planning. With the use of some e-learning facilities, students can be engaged in interactive learning and thus unleash their potential. The Parents-Also-Appreciate-Teachers activity and cooking competition will be held on 23rd June (Friday). The event allows teachers, parents and students to have a great time together.
Father’s Day is coming soon. How can we thank our fathers? One way to show your love for others is to make them something. In addition, you can give them a hug or do some activities together so that you can create some happy memories. I believe that no matter which form you choose, your father will feel your love and smile from the heart. When you thank your father, don’t forget to be grateful to our heavenly Father. As the Bible says, “The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him” (Psalm 103:13). We should follow Christ wholeheartedly whenever we are parents or daughters and sons.
