21st December, 2018
Year 2019 has come, which marks the countdown to our school’s 50th anniversary ceremony. Kei Tsz Primary School was founded in 1968 and moved to the current campus in 2006. We thank God for leading us. On the day of 50th anniversary ceremony, we share a brief history of our school in a drama, as well as other performances. Students will show their talents and what they have learnt in STARS lessons, as a thanks to God for His grace.
The Alumni Reunion Day is held on the first Sunday of December every year. I thank God that a lot of students came back to visit their former teachers and gather with their classmates on 2nd December. An alumni group of teachers and students met and chatted in the School Memorabilia Room to cherish the memories of the school history and the scene was heart-warming. Apart from participating in table tennis matches, basketball games, sharing sessions and singing, the alumni also enjoyed taking photos in front of the banner with the photo of the old campus so that they could remember the old days. Teachers and students had a barbeque as the karaoke continued. We had a lot of fun. As the 50th anniversary ceremony is coming next year, it is hoped that more alumni can come back and celebrate the jubilee.
Our school values home-school collaboration. Therefore, sunshine telephone calls and home visits will be carried out in phrases by our teachers to provide more opportunities for parents to further strengthen the home-school relationship and to work together with teachers to help the children grow. The home visits for P.6 students are conducted in December and January in order to let parents have a better understanding of their children’s learning and have an in-depth discussion on selecting secondary schools. Also, parent lesson observations will be carried out three times throughout the school year so as to allow our parents to have a better understanding of their children’s learning at school. The P.1 and P.4 parent lesson observations were successfully completed on 10th December. Thank you for your active participation. The lesson observations for other levels will be conducted in the second term. Please refer to the upcoming notices for more details.
Apart from using eClass as a platform for e-learning, e-notices and checking your child’s account balance online, our school has also used eClass Parent app to issue school notices this year. This practice not only allows parents to read and sign school notices using their smart phones or mobile devices anytime and anywhere, but also greatly reduces our administrative work. Thank you for your cooperation. Around 95% of our parents are using the eClass Parent app now. In order to further reduce administrative work, the Kei Tsz WhatsApp group will be cancelled at the end of the first term. Please note that school announcements will be made through the eClass app.
Parents, do you often urge your child to study hard? Dr. Arthur Costa from California State University once conducted a study about high achievers. He found that the students that have characteristics such as, “never give up”, “self-control”, “listen to others”, “think flexibly”, “pursue the truth” and “not afraid to take on challenges”. The key to nurturing a “high achiever” is a child’s attitude, not their abilities. Parents play an important role in their child’s growth process. Parents can read books or newspapers with their children, as well as discuss the current issues with them so as to facilitate communication with each other. If parents can help their children build good learning habits, they can develop a good learning attitude. When children have a good learning attitude, they won’t be afraid of failure and they will have the courage to take on challenges. As a result, they can persevere and concentrate and may become a “high achiever”. The first term exam will be held from 11th to 16th January. We hope that you can encourage your children more and enhance their self-confidence. Finally, I would like to send you all words from God for the new year: “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all" (2 Corinthians 13:14).
